Green Resigned, Other Notes
By Matt Cordon (kh). Filed in Dallas Cowboys News in Brief |
The Cowboys followed up their release of Shaun Suisham by signing fourth-round pick Skyler Green from the practice squad. This occurred shortly after Parcells had converted Green from a receiver to a running back. We’re curious, though, which would make us more nervous: Mike Vanderjagt lining up for a game-winning field goal with the Cowboys down by two or Green returning a punt with the game tied 3-3 in the first quarter. After watching Green this preseason, it would be closer than you might think (i.e., “Let the ball bounce into the end zone, Skyler!”).
Big Shot Blurbs focused briefly on the Cowboys protecting the ball this weekend:
Last Sunday’s loss to Philly has many wondering just how good these Cowboys are. But think about this: Despite five turnovers (really four before Drew Bledsoe’s final interception), the Cowboys had the ball at the Eagles’ 6 with a chance to tie the game. In Philly. Probably the toughest place they’ll play all year.
The Cowboys effectively made up for the turnovers last weekend. But Dallas then turned around and gave up those big plays, which ended up killing the Cowboys’ chances.
One last note: Marshall Faulk on NFL Network just warned that all of the distractions surrounding Parcells, Owens, et al. could cost the Cowboys the game this weekend. If there is a way that we could avoid a gut-wrenching experience on Sunday, we’d surely appreciate it. The nerves factor seems to be going up.
