Bledsoe’s Lowlights

I saw this earlier this year, but the timing is about as good as it can get.

Big Shot Blurbs noted that Bledsoe is class act, notwithstanding the controversy this week:

I never bought into the thinking that Bledsoe couldn’t bring himself to serve as a backup. He’s a prideful guy, but ultimately he’s more about the team than just himself. And he knows somewhere along the line, for whatever reason, there’s a chance he could be called upon to lead them again.

I’ve said my two cents, but only because I can’t seem to sleep…. Then again, I have a blog because I can’t seem to sleep!

Each of these losses have involved failures across the board. Bledsoe’s mistakes have hurt, but he has also been the one throwing the passes that put the Cowboys in a position to win or to stay in games. With the Cowboys down 24-10 to the Jaguars, he went 4-4 for 79 yards and a TD to cut the lead to 24-17. He followed that up with an interception on the last drive. In the Eagles game, people seem to have forgotten that he converted a 4th and 4 play right before the two minute warning, not to mention the 4th and 18 to Terry Glenn (pass interference, of course) to get the Cowboys in position to score. We know what happened after that. Same story in the Giants game– Bledsoe went 4-5 on the 80-yard drive that was capped off by his one-yard run. Then came the next drive.

In saying that we are in a better position with Romo, I think we are assuming that Romo will not only avoid Bledsoe’s mistakes, but also will make the plays that Bledsoe has been making. Looking at it objectively, that could be more difficult than some people seem to realize right now.

I’m going to go back to watching Hoosiers on Spike TV. Hickory is playing for a trip to the state finals. I bet they do it.

  1. Comment by Jerry:

This is stupid. Brady fell into a stacked Patriots team and everyone said the Bills were better off with J.P. Bledsoe took the bills to two winning seasons while he was there. The offensive line is terrible and Romo can move but is scared and will always be scared. He played at a joke college and everyone can look good in preseason when nothing matters.Taking Bledsoe out was retarded. He has been inconsistent but the Cowboys are 3-3 and who knows could have been 4-2 if Bledsoe stayed in. You’re adding to an unnecessary circus. Romo whom was an undrafted free agent will go NO WHERE and is the dumbest decision ever. It is so easy to love the back up at times like this.

Thanks for the comment, Jerry. I’ve said several times that I disagreed with putting Romo in, and I don’t think that the Cowboys will be better for it. Sorry if you misunderstood the message.
