A few questions from a blog idiot
How do you keep the spammers from eating you alive? i\’ve seen blogs with nothing but spam postings.
How do you keep some left wing extremist from posting racist or defamatory rhetoric? and if you cant stop them, what are you legally liabel when they do?
can viruses be posted to blogs?

Fundraiser,
Thanks for visiting.
Wordpress has a plug-in called Akismet that blocks spam. Although a few get through from time-to-time, it blocks the vast majority of them– and we are talking thousands.
As far as other commentators, I moderate all of my comments for this reason. I have had a few people post profane comments– and I use my discretion as to what to do with them if the comments themselves relate to football– but I’ve disapproved a couple that were obviously inappropriate.
As far as liability, I can’t provide legal advice. Still, I can’t think of a situation where the owner of a website would face liability based on what another person posted as a comment. If there were such a situation, it would have to be pretty extreme (maybe encouraging terrorist activity or promoting distribution of child pornography, or something vile like that), but you should be able to prevent anything like that by moderating your posts.
I am not aware of a virus that can be spread through blog comments without some action taken by the end user (i.e., opening a link to an .exe file, but nothing would surprise me.
