A Low Fat, Low Cholesterol, Low Carb Game Day Post
By Matt Cordon (kh). Filed in Dallas Cowboys News in Brief |
Discovered last week that despite daily workouts and generally healthy eating, my cholesterol is high, my triglycerides were really high… and I’m a bit ticked off. So just to show my best effort, here is my Thanksgiving plate right now: previously frozen shrimp, carrots, almonds, carrots. Will have a bit of turkey later. No bread. More carrots. And I have no idea whether this is what I am supposed to be eating, so this just stinks.
[I'm also not sure what good this effort will do, since watching the Cowboys is bound to cause early death long before heart disease and/or diabetes.]

Was reminded this morning of the Cowboys’ collapses following “statement” games during Bill Parcells’ tenure. A sampling:
2003: Dallas beats Carolina 24-20 to go to 8-3 in the biggest win for the franchise in five years. The Cowboys followed that up with a 40-21 loss to Miami on Thanksgiving.
2003: Dallas beats the Giants 19-3 to go to 10-5 and qualify for the playoffs. But the Cowboys lost to the Saints in the final week of the season, and limped into the playoffs where they lost.
2005: Dallas wins a 31-28 thriller against Kansas City to go to 8-5, but the Cowboys were routed 35-7 the next week at Washington.
If you acknowledge this, it won’t happen again, right? Right? Oops.

The Dallas Morning News had an article today on the current Cowboys memories of Thanksgiving Day games. And Big Shot Blurbs has this to say:
Unlike last year when the Cowboys faced a formidable Broncos team, this is a game they’re
expected to win. The Bucs are a bad team, period. Any team that averages 13 points a game shouldn’t make you lose sleep at night. That said, the Cowboys still need to play with a sense of urgency. Win today, and they’re in great shape with five games left. Lose, and last Sunday’s win over the Colts loses its luster.

This is from Scouts, Inc. (and posted on the official Fan Zone):
The Cowboys enter this Thanksgiving matchup as one of the hottest teams in the NFL, while the Buccaneers continue to keep their slim playoffs hope alive. Romo and the Cowboys’ offense will look to exploit a depleted Buccaneers defense that has played well over the last few weeks. Gruden must find a way to keep the Cowboys off balance with Gradkowski. Both teams will look to establish the run, while setting up the play-action attack. Look for the Cowboys to control this game and extend their winning streak to three games, while keeping pace with the New York Giants in the NFC East race.
Prediction: Cowboys 24, Buccaneers 13
