I was going to lay off this subject, but I was a little bit surprised by the results of a poll on the Dallas Cowboys Fan Zone regarding who should be head coach. After 92 votes in what I would imagine is not a proper sampling, here are the results:
Mike Singletary: 51.1%
Norv Turner: 20.7%
Wade […]

As a Baylor employee, I should be far more excited that Mike Singletary is interviewing with the Cowboys. But other than the speculation, I’ll wait for commentary until after I hear an announcement. Here is the story from the official site.
Oops. I just said I was a Baylor employee. Next thing you […]

I have apparently agreed one time too many with Jean-Jacques Taylor of the Dallas Morning News, for today I read his piece about how Jerry Jones should be coach three times before realizing that there may not be a punch line.
There’s just no good way to spin Norv Turner’s 58-82-1 coaching record. None of the […]

Just read about yet another interviewee as head coach of the Cowboys.
The Cowboys have confirmed that Mike Singletary, Hall of Fame linebacker and 49ers assistant head coach the past two years, will interview for the Cowboys’ vacant head coaching job Tuesday.
Singletary, of course, played at Baylor and was a member of the Chicago Bears’ ‘85 […]

I seem to remember the talk in 1997 was that Troy Aikman openly campaigned for Norv Turner to be hired as head coach once Barry Switzer was fired. The Cowboys instead hired Chan Gailey, and Aikman was largely responsible for Gailey’s failure in Dallas (I don’t think I’ll get into a debate about that, […]

This debate may not end any time soon, no matter who Dallas hires: was the Bill Parcells era a failure? You can glance at my recent posts to discover that I think it was, but I think it was a failure not because he did not win a Super Bowl but rather because the […]

This is all nothing but coincidence, but I can’t help but to think of the ironies of the playoff matchups this season when it comes to the Cowboys:
Dallas lost to Philadelphia by 14 and by 16.
Dallas lost to the Giants by 14, then beat the Giants by 3.
Dallas lost to New Orleans by 25.
Dallas lost […]

I was unaware until I moved to Texas eleven years ago that the term “Yankee” was derogatory. And I would have never used the term as such, until we had a coach who graduated from Central Connecticut University and a head coach born and raised in New Jersey. So now I’m saying […]

ESPN created a list that ranks each of the 80 previous Super Bowl teams. Have to be honest that I tend to agree with it, especially because Cowboys teams occupy six of the top 26 spots– although I don’t think the 1977 team belongs as low as 24. Here are the Cowboys teams, […]

I’m thinking that this blogging stuff was made for times like these: rumors about why the old coach left, rumors about who will come in. But I quite simply have little interest in second-guessing others were are merely second-guessing themselves, so…
I’ll just note that Jason Garrett is being given a look not only as […]
