Update: New Jersey Numbers in 2008

I will post the final summary of the Greatest Cowboys by Their Jersey Numbers shortly. Before I do, though, here is a summary of new players and a couple of players who changed jersey numbers during the season. I have not yet added all of these players to the original polls.

#2: Sam Paulescu, P, Oregon State (current leader at #2: Lin Elliott)

Note: Paulescu was signed to replace the injured Mat McBriar.

#5: Brooks Bollinger, QB, Wisconsin (current leader at #5: Clint Stoerner)

Note: Bollinger was brought in after training camp to serve as the third quarterback. He has since been elevated to the primary backup position.

#11: Roy Williams, WR, Texas (current leader at #11: Danny White)

Note: Williams was the focus of a major trade with the Lions. Goodbye, nearly half of next year’s draft.

#23: Tashard Choice, RB, Georgia Tech (current leader at #23: Robert Williams)

Note: Choice was a fourth-round pick in 2008.

#28: Felix Jones, RB, Arkansas (current leader at #28: Darren Woodson)

Note: Jones was a first-round pick in 2008.

#31: Mike Jenkins, CB, South Florida (current leader at #31: Roy Williams)

Note: Jenkins was the second first-round pick for the Cowboys in 2008.

#32: Orlando Scandrick, CB, Boise State (current leader at #32: Walt Garrison)

Note: Scandrick was a fifth-round pick in 2008.

#38: Roy Williams, S, Oklahoma (current leader at #38: Sam Baker)

Williams changed numbers from 31 to 38 during the offseason.

#52: Carlos Polk, LB, Nebraska (current leader at #52: Dexter Coakley)

Note: Polk spent several years with the Chargers before being signed by Dallas during the 2008 season.

#55: Zach Thomas, LB, Texas Tech (current leader at #55: Lee Roy Jordan)

Note: Thomas signed as a free agent in 2008.

#64: Montrae Holland, G, Florida State (current leader at #64: Tom Rafferty)

Note: Holland signed as a free agent in 2008.

#80: Martellus Bennett, TE, Texas A&M (current leader at #80: Tony Hill)

Note: Bennett was a second-round pick in 2008.

#95: Tank Johnson, DT, Washington (current leader at #95: Chad Hennings)

Note: Johnson changed numbers from 66 to 95 during the offseason.
