The last time the Cowboys won at New England was 1987. That was a significant game because it marked the first time that Herschel Walker had started over a healthy Tony Dorsett. Walker responded with 173 rushing yards on 28 carries, and his 60-yard touchdown in overtime gave Dallas a 23-17 win. Dorsett had just one rush for five yards and left the game with an injury in the third quarter.
Dorsett appeared in four more games as a Cowboy but only managed 144 yards in those games. Walker became the focal point of the offense for the rest of the season.
